The Alcohol and Drug Counseling Program at Santa Barbara City College seeks to provide current education in the field of substance abuse/dependence. It is designed to provide students with the theoretical and practical training necessary to develop paraprofessional expertise in this field.
The goal of the ADC Program is to instill in our students basic knowledge and skills in counseling, pharmacology and physiology, case management, legal and ethical issues, cultural diversity awareness, co-occurring disorders, and family issues of those afflicted with substance abuse or dependence. The required fieldwork component affords students hands-on supervised experience working at facilities dedicated to the treatment of alcohol and drug dependence.
